A whole zone of foundation sprays installed under the mulch. Why? To save labor. (Why do you think they're so cheap?)	TIC TIC TIC TIC TIC......	Where's The backflow? Good luck trying to sell the house without paying $600 to bring this mess up to code!	Imagine if this fella decided to go into plastic surgery?


Cosmetics take time. Low cost installs come with a price. This grading problem is permanent	4' of exposed, brittle 1" PVC under 60 PSI. Maybe you'll be home when the $8/hr lawn guy snaps it with his Weed Wacker. Maybe.	"Honey, we got a letter from the HOA..."


See if you can guess the number of fittings used to repair this trainwreck over the past seasons. And it's still bowed!	Yes, you can pass this off as post-modern landscape art. Then the window sill starts to rot away. Whatever works.	Much like the rings of a tree trunk, we can tell the age of this backflow by counting the number of repair couplings used to fix the inevitable leaks each Spring

OK.. Let's break this typical low-bid backflow preventer down, shall we?
1. That's CPVC coming out of the wall. Cheaper than copper, yes, but so much more restrictive. And is CPVC UV Resistant? Oh heavens no.
2. Look ma, no support! See how this assembly is sinking? Backflow preventers are heavy. Anchor supports are a must. Most low-bid contractors don't have the skill set.
3. What's that brown crap? Is it different than that blue crap?.
4. What is that thing for? Can't use it for blowouts. Where are the unions to take the Backflow off and store it inside over winter? You can't, because there aren't any.
5. Again, brittle PVC under pressure right into turfgrass, susceptible to mowers and trimmers. Best of Luck!!

Well, let's look at one of ours. This is typical. 1. That's 1" thick walled copper. It'll last forever, patina out and blend well with the brick and mulch. But it does cost a little more. 2. No sag here. That's how it's supposed to be done. 3. No brown or blue crap here. 4. That's a hose bid for blowouts, and it can double as a high volume water source for filling pools, washing the car, dog etc. See the unions on each side? This backflow can be stored inside over the winter. It won't warp or crack. It will last years longer. 5. It's copper, baby. Whack it all you want. It ain't breakin'!!
